Sermon from Pastor F.W.C. Neser B1425
Scripture reading: Rom.12:1-21
Key verse: v2
Please notice the positive, strong tone that runs through all of these epistles. In this world the modern tendency is to be conformed to the things of this world. Then you will be popular and have no enemies, and you’ll go smoothly through this world. But this world is going smoothly towards the precipice.
Therefore, if we take this text: Rom.12:2 . Be not conformed to this world (this world system that is at enmity with God), but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…
This transformation however, will bring strife, opposition and enmity. To be a friend of the world is to be an enemy of God. This world will bring destruction, it will bring separation from God. Therefore we must be transformed, although it will lead to a life of persecution, rejection etc. For darkness hates light, because it knows that when light comes it has to flee.
This life is short, but there awaits us an everlasting life of liberty and joy and the presence of the Lord. The new birth is the miracle of a moment, but sanctification is the work of a lifetime….therefore we must strive to enter through the narrow gate.
