Teaching from Pastor F.W.C Neser L100a

Scripture Reading : Matt.24:1-28

Principal text v5 : ‘For many shall come in my Name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many’.

Many will come with deception – prophets and ministers who will come in Jesus’ Name, even some who will say they are the Christ. They are already with us in the world today…They even perform signs and wonders (v11,24). Satan transforms himself into an angel of light with one purpose only, which is to deceive (11 Cor.11:14).

We are living in this time of great deception where people cannot be trusted – for they seem to be who they are not. Another area of deception is because of ignorance as the prophet Hosea says in ch 4:6 my people perish for the lack of knowledge.

Although we have achieved great heights scientifically, we are ignorant about spiritual things. We live in times of anxiety, worry and fear – things that evil spirits use to lead men astray – a time of much darkness.

This is also a time of great loneliness – people are empty, heartbroken and feel forsaken.

It is also an age of perfection : you are either a success or a failure. You are either a prominent business man or have a successful profession or you are trodden down underfoot and get left behind.

Young people who become dropouts, and  fall prey to drugs, alcohol etc. because they felt they would never be able to reach the mark….and become the lonely dropouts of society. The reason is that we were not made to live with a vacuum inside our hearts. Man was made to be filled with the Spirit of God.

Therefore, if man does not receive the Spirit of God in his life, other spirits can enter in. The Bible warns us about these things.

In the early 70’s there was a prominent revival of the occult – people openly worshipping Satan. Thousands are being deceived….

Where do we stand as Christians?
